Today I met Anne Harnagle, editor of the LA Times "Arts & /entertainment" section. She reports that John's movie is getting great reviews from the Times - they love it. Congratulations! (Ann is a friend of Ruth Richel - it's a small world)

What will you wear to the Oscars?

I hardly "know" you, but I'm still starstruck. I've told a bunch of people about being acquainted with the wife of the screenwriter of "A Mighty Heart". I'm going to see it this week. Bravo to your DH!!

So, what's your new project??

Tonight I went to see "A Mighty Heart" with a friend. It's an amazing ,rich, powerful film. My friend loved it too. All the actors are fabulous and of course, John's writing is superb. My friend is going to send all her friends to see it.

And finally, not so nice for H (what's the deal with this?) from the European Variety editor - http://weblogs.variety.com/thompsononhollywood/2007/05/mighty_heart_ha.html

Well, gee, thanks for the exhaustive list of reactions, some of which I hadn't seen, most of which I had. There is a story (isn't there always?) behind the Variety blogt bitchslap, but I'm loathe to discuss it with someone who insists on being anonymous...

n prob. I'm sure everyone figured there was some story (actually I just assumed the Variety guy was a nasty and gossipy jerk like most? half? the people in the industry!!) Power to you and H for surviving it with integrity intact. And, regardless of any film critiques, being associated with promoting the story of men of decency - like Danny Pearl - is something to be proud of. That comment was erroneously omitted from the above.
